In game I often feel that I'm not getting the fps which I Should be. I get around 40 - 100 fps most of the time, but in rp_downtown I get between 5 and 30 fps. I think that it may not just be garrysmod as in tf2 I get between 30 and 100 fps and I think that I should get more. I play on 1920 x 1080 on everything max except aa and af which are on 2. I also have recently reformatted and defragged. amd phenom x 4 940 @ 3Ghz ati 4890 corsair 750 watt haf 932 4gb ram DDR2 Am I getting the fps that I should? I can't find a definitive answer, thanks.
Hmm, faulty graphics card?
Ok, so my fps aren't normal? I keep thinking that they aren't but I'm not sure. This is the first computer that I have had that has had a dedicated graphics card so I don't know what I should be getting.
That framerate seems way too low for a 4890. Download Driver Sweeper: http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/ Go into safemode, do a full ATI cleanout, reboot and download & install the latest drivers for your GPU from here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx
That card should keep the FPS above 60 almost constantly
The map could be badly optimized.
