Simple program for burning long video files / movies?

Alright, so basically I have a few .mkvs, .mp4s, and etc on my PC that I'd like to watch on my DVD player upstairs. So far I've tried Nero and Ashampoo, but Nero's trial only works with files below 100 MB and Ashampoo doesn't work for what I'm trying to do.
Are there any good programs for burning movies and etc?
If you've got windows 7, give Windows DVD maker a try. Never tried it myself though.

If I were you I'd get a DVD player with USB support, a video game console or whatever else to play the files.
Here's a great idea, just buy a USB stick and a Blu Ray player and VOILA! Seriously, all you have to do is convert the files to .avi then put them on the USB.

I'm pretty sure you don't even have to do that with a bluray player. Depending on the player of course.
Windows DVD Maker works great, but for lengthy movies the encoding takes centuries. I'm assuming I could make it into a DVD folder (with VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS) and skip the encoding process?

Hah, no. The encoding is necessary for the DVD player to play the file. It takes a long time because that's just how video encoding is.
DVDauthor is cool.

And If you need a Windows GUI, DVDStyler.
