Hopefully they'll make this a multiplayer mode as well. It'd be awesome to compete on a galactic scale.
Sounds really nice. I'll pick this up asap.
i attempted to play this, but then it said it disconnected me from the server so i never played it again
Once the full game is released and the game stops being Always-Online, this mode (and the rest of the game) will probably be a lot of fun.
I don't understand the comments on PCgamesN though.
One of the users who posted fails to aknowledge that the game is in alpha and seems to think this is the end product, and the other says they are charging 90$ for the alpha, forgetting the fact that its pretty much payed for as a game, not to mention that I have no idea where he got the 90$ from...

On Steam for the longest time, the game cost about 90 bucks for the Alpha version.

Really? Thats dumb, but then again, I'd say it would be also dumb of someone to buy the game in an alpha state for 90$...
Even worse when the game has these sales every now and then. I got it today for 28€. Still has a long long way to go, but I like what I'm seeing.
I prefer early access games to have high price gates. Prevents people from buying into an alpha and treating it like a demo or worse a full game. This way if you buy into it you're more likely to be the kind of person who will provide actual feedback on the game.

Basically the kickstarter backer rewards included alpha access pretty high up which is fair enough, not too many people get in but gives everyone the option. Lower tiers included beta and then just full release etc. for the more average player. As a result when it was released on steam they stuck to the "inverse minecraft" scheme which personally is a good idea for many games as long as the users understand why it is priced like that. If they had done the other approach they would have dicked over all the loyal backers and the final alternative would be to not release at all which is just silly but given the reaction of many people when they first saw the release may have been the better option at least for the alpha stage.
I guess it doesn't helps that most people can't seem to read...
Btw, the game really is unoptimized right? It's not my computer going into cardiac arrest by just playing the game on all medium right?

It is more to do with the fact everything is online only. The game would run SO MUCH better if it allowed for offline play. Of course this means it would only run better for single player but still.
