I'm getting a new headset for my birthday and my parents told me I have an $80 budget, I would love something better than my fatal1ty headset. Its a great headset but the microphone is crap and I would like something where I can actually hear someone walking behind me in COD, BF, etc. I already went to the headphone buying guide and was told to get some headset without a mic and get a clip on mic even though I had said I want a built in mic.

I will be listening to some music but not alot and I have this soundcard if it means anything. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829102024
I don't blame you for wanting the built-mic. I prefer it as well, as it provides a little more movement than a clip on.
If you're interested in wireless, I would suggest this pair:

I currently own it and love every bit of it.
Charge last's longer than expected, mic pics up everything great, and the sound quality is crystal.
It's half as much as the logitech set, which ive also tried, and I prefer this one.
If you're interested in a wired set, this razer set is acceptional for the price:

Yes, you might be paying an extra $10 for the brand and "gaming headset", but I think its worth the price still.
I used the set and then gave it to my girlfriend when i got the wireless set, and she still loves it.
So as a secondhand item, it still excels in sound quality and comfortability.
inb4 razer sucks, wireless is a gimmick

That razer looks nice, has better specs than my current headset. And nah I'm not into wireless, thanks for the wireless link though.

I had it and hated it, wasn't very loud even at max volume. And the spinny mic never stayed up when I wanted it to.

I had the Razer headphones he posted and these are so much better after picking these up at Quakecon ($50).
- Sound is substantially better.
- Much more comfortable with leather muffs.
- The mic is retractable and easily adjustable
- You can detach the extension cord to use it like a normal headphone without the retarded looking mic.
- You look way sexier and have more color options.
Would this sexy guy lie to you?

ohh gawd i just ruined another keyboard.
I really really doubt the quality of those Razer and Corsair headsets and im pretty sure they did not make them themselves.
If you want a headset with a mic, get a sennheiser. Stay away from all the gaming brands.

Plantronics is superb and cheap though. Sennheiser is excellent as well, however.
