Hi, I am looking to purchase a Gateway NV series and I have found my self up against a roadblock trying to decide between two models (AMD vs Intel) and I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me clear up this issue. What I am looking for is a laptop to mainly be used for school and what ever gaming I could possibly squeeze out of the system. They both come with media accelerators, so I know it will be nothing spectacular. I just would like to know which one would be more affective. Thank you in advance, What it boils down to is basically this: Gateway® NV5814u Possessor: Intel Core™2 Duo Dual-Core T6500 Processor1 (2.1GHz, 800MHz FSB, 2MB L2 Cache) RAM: 4GB Hard Drive 320GB Chassis: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD with up to 1759MB of Intel® Dynamic Video Memory Technology 5.0, supporting Microsoft® DirectX® 10 and Mobile Intel® GM45 Express Chipset3 VS. Gateway® NV5606u Possessor: AMD TurionX2 RM-74 Dual-Core Processor (2.2GHz, 800MHz FSB, 1MB L2 Cache) RAM: 4GB Hard Drive 500GB Chassis: ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics with up to 1919MB of HyperMemory™ supporting Shader Model 4.0 and Microsoft® DirectX® 10 with AMD M780G Chipset
I personally would go with the latter.
I'd go with Intel but the AMD has a better graphics card IMO. I had an Intel graphics chip and it had a lot of incompatibilities with Shaders.
Number 2, higher processor speed, larger hard drive, and a MINUTELY BETTER video chipset.
