Hi, I am in the middle of building a computer right now.
My budget will be ranging from 10.000DKK~15.000DKK (2000USD~3000USD)
My specs so far is:
GPU: XFX nVidia Geforce 295. Or should I wait? The Geforce 300 is right around the corner.
CPU: Intel i7 920. I'm quite confused about this one, I don't know if I should get 950 instead. Or wait for i9
PSU: Corsair 850W
RAM: Corsair Dominator 1866MHz (3x2GB) or Corsair Dominator GT 2000MHz (3x2GB)
So what motherboard should I use for this? I've been thinking about an EVGA or ASUS. And yes, I need this for overclocking. So help for a cooler would also be very appreciated.
Please also tell me about, why I might perhaps switch to ATi.
Last but not least, will it fit into this cabinet, NZXT Lexa S?

P.S: Everything will be overclocked.
Thanks in advance (:
Edit:
Forgot to add what games I'll be playing:
Crysis, Crysis 2, Source games, UT3, Mass Effect and Mirror's Edge. And other new games, when they'll get released
Resolution: 2560 x 1600
I can re-use HDD, keyboard and mouse
Stick with the i7 920. As for motherboard, Go with a ASUS Rampage 2 Extreme or EVGA Classified 3x SLI.

Did you already buy the parts?
5870 instead of the 295, compare the price and performance and it's obvious why
i5 instead of the i7, exact same game performance for much less
[editline]11:26PM[/editline]
PSU is way overkill for one card
Don't bother with the i9 (when it comes out) for gaming. They will not take advantage of all those cores for many years to come.
5870 instead of 295 as ninja said.
i5 instead of i7 as ninja said.
PSU may be ok if he plans on adding another card at a later date.

Nope, haven't bought the parts yet. Was also looking very closely on the ASUS Rampage 2 Extreme

Are you sure about the i5 and i7 thing?
And what about 5870 vs. 300?
And what PSU should I use instead then?

Great, then I don't need to think about that.
Edit:
But the i5 only accepts dual channel?

true, at 2560x1600 this would be a good plan
also OP don't bother with NZXT they look shit and there's much better quality alternatives, look at Antec 900/902 or Coolermaster HAF 922/932

so get different RAM

Wouldn't that be way less powerful? I mean I got the money, if that's the problem, so far I've only reached 10.000DKK with everything, but still not sure if I should get that
And as for the cabinets you suggested I think I'll go with the Antec 900 since it has four huge fans.
Also the fact that my bro has the HAF 932

What about a 5970 instead? He has a great budget for it.

How much big a difference is there between the two? Because the 5970 sells out at about 4.200,
while the 5870 sells out at 2.500 which is way cheaper.

Woah, that's alot. It's like 50% more or so. Now I just have to consider money, and that'll be the card I buy

the 5970 is 2 5870s in one card, doesn't quite get the performance of 2 5870s but it's cheaper
[editline]03:03PM[/editline]
also it'll affect your case choices because it's badassly huge, not entirely sure which cases do fit it

A full tower should do, I read. Thanks (:
$3,000...?

OP you should wait until March 2010 to see what NVIDIA has to offer.

The only problem is that I can't wait that long, the only working thing I got is a laptop, which lags while playing TF2 ):
And that's the only of my 63 steam games I can play

You can play HLDM:S? gman squad and all that.
