• Thinking about purchasing the Iphone 3GS

As the title says, I have been seriously considering getting the new Iphone, but making sense of AT&T's pricing model is giving me a headache. Perhaps someone here can help me make sense of what the true, final cost is. So... Using info from this page http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-phone-service/specials/en/iReady_checklist.pdf I am assuming the following costs... $200 - Cost of 16GB 3GS $36 - Activation fee $1680 - $70 x 24 months (cheapest plan available) -------------------------------------------------------------- $1916 = Total cost for 2 years (leaving out any other fees I might end up with) Is that right? Am I missing anything? Also, what is the difference between "Anytime Minutes" and "Night and Weekend Minutes"? Does this mean that after 450 minutes of calling during normal daylight hours I am charged per minute? Do I only get my Night and Weekend minutes after the 450 have been used up? Also, is there any word on a newer version coming out that I should wait for? Is AT&T going to enable tethering anytime soon? On a more personal note, for those that are paying for an Iphone right now, do you (with hindsight) regret it or was it worth it?
iPhone (Capital P not i). Unless you use a lot of minutes get it pay as you go. I know someone with one (step brother) and they're very impressed so far.
I didn't know you could get "Pay as you Go" with the iphone...I thought the data plans were necessary because of all of the iphones features? Also...wouldn't I then have to pay the $600 up front?
Go Phone iPhone's 'data' plans got de-activated with 3.0. They got sick of people getting off easy with it. As for the iPhone 3GS, I love it. I've always loved my iPhone to begin with though. Don't expect a new iPhone for another year. I'm luckily on a Family Plan and did some confusing shit with it in store that took a while. PM me and I'll give you my low down.
Is the shortest contract term in the US really 24 months for an iphone?
Yes. 2 year contract.
I'm still thinking about it. I went into the AT&T store recently to ask a few questions. Store rep claims that Tethering should be enabled by the end of the summer, however it will require a different (and more expensive) data plan. He claims that it will cost $60 instead of the regular $30 data plan. So for the base amount per month; $100. Still an unlimited data plan...just vastly more pricey. PSP401....I'm not sure if you got my PM, but I never received a reply.
Got it, haven't had time to reply to it yet. Sorry.
