• Good tiny distro?

I have a very old PC running windows 98, I was wondering if there was a distro which uses less than 120 mb ram, and is small Oh, and it's an i586 processor
SliTaz is good, so is DSL (Damn Small Linux). I hear Slax also works well on older PCs.
isn't DSL old and unsupported?
Yes it is. Go on Puppy or Slitaz.
You could go with arch and build something really small. I did it for a college project. Here's my report: Part1 (Testing in a VM): http://bobnet.name/hcw/archinstall/index.html Part2 (Native Install): http://bobnet.name/hcw/archinstall/native.html If you go with a small WM like Openbox or even something smaller. All you need to do is pick some lightweight applications. [editline]07:36PM[/editline] Some of the information is a little "old". For example, I don't use Pypanel anymore because I found out it wasn't supported and it crashes all the time.

Guess I should get tint2.
My problems with pypanel might be my own fault. The thing is that I use a script to rotate my background with feh and it works fine. The only problem is that Pypanel doesn't redraw properly. To fix that I simple reran pypanel every time the background changes and it did force it to redraw. That also cause it to be buggy (I guess). Some system tray icons would simply stop drawing. and it would crash every once in a while.
DSL worked pretty well for me
I had no idea that it was dead!
