What happened to it?
They didn't remove all the bots and cheaters.
A small group of botters owned 80% of the land for the four months I played it.
And a large group of cheaters ruined the PVP.
I played 148 hours of it, didn't renew my initial game time. It was OK when I played it, when I finally managed to get some land, but I might not be much for MMOs in general.
They also completely destroyed the economy by introducing the Hasla Tier 2 weapons, making every weaponsmithing main basically up and leave the game.
To put it in perspective, Hasla weapons were a "catch-up" function added to the original version of the game overseas so that new players wouldn't have to spend an eternity racking up gold to buy good weapons. You could instead farm tokens and turn them in for special weapons that were on par but not exactly the same as the basic "high tier" crafting equipment. Hasla Tier 2 were upgrades to these weapons on par with the middle of the high tier weaponry you could craft.
They thought it would be a brilliant idea to include this mechanic when the game wasn't even out for near 2 months yet here. The vast majority of weaponsmiths couldn't even make comparable weapons, and the ones that could were making all their money off of them. So predictably when this came out the demand for good weapons crashed through the floor and it fucked the economy over even more than it already was with all the botters and cheaters. It was sad seeing 2/3rds of my guild just up and leave the game within days of this happening.
Also the Cash Shop made the game basically Pay2Win. Want a top end weapon? Just spend a few hunderd dollars and MAYBE you are lucky enough to craft it.
Ah, what could have been... Keeping an eye out for Black Desert, Albion Online, and Crowfall.
One day the MMO genre will again produce something new and exciting, something that takes the premise "lots of people in the same world as you" and actually runs with it beyond the tired old theme park mechanics. One day.
