I still don't really care unfortunately. It looks really well made, but I just can't seem to get interested in the genre, even though I am a massive Valve fanboy.
You'll just have to play it for a while.
When you first start you don't realize what's going on so you get frustrated, and then when you get better and work out what every hero does you continue to get frustrated because you realize how fucking bad everyone is its a vicious circle and im an addict, send help
That's why you have 4 friends to play with at all times
You'll need more than that, chances are you won't be friends with the original four after playing with them. :v:

I recently started playing dota 2 because I was bored of tf2 and the game is quite addicting, however I hate how some heroes are really shit compared to others and there's also that moment where your hero is picked by an idiot and you feel like you wanna punch him in the face. I personally love that the game isn't pay to win like league of legends.
You'll just have to play it for a while.
I've played about 25 hours in total and I'm still not a fan of it. It's not bad, but it just feels like an RTS with just one unit, IMO.
I've played about 25 hours in total and I'm still not a fan of it. It's not bad, but it just feels like an RTS with just one unit, IMO.
Because it is an RTS with just one unit?
It's not bad, but it just feels like an RTS with just one unit, IMO.
Do you even know what an RTS is? Because I assure you a real-time strategy game is not restricted to multiple units.
But it feels exactly like playing age of empires, but with just one unit, who happens to have abilities. I played a couple of the other heroes with multiple units, but that just feels like playing an RTS without the things that make RTS games so great. The building. But that's just my personal opinion. The game itself is good.
That's why you have 4 friends to play with at all times
If you think this gets you automatically out of any frustrating match-ups, you are SO wrong. :v: [editline]20th July 2013[/editline] But as a newbie, one should set their keybindings right before jumping into the game. Most importantly learning how to set, and jump between controlled units (1-5, including your Hero and courier) and the item-slots (usually Z,X,C,V,Spacebar,T for me.) Then all that is left is to play the game and to learn all the items and abilities, the map etc. I never thought I was an RTS-guy, but once you start playing with a little thought and delve into it, you will become one.
Yay. Now I can play with friends who have macs but they're probably gonna complain of how challenging the game is compared to League of Legends.
If you think this gets you automatically out of any frustrating match-ups, you are SO wrong. :v:
It means you have people you can communicate with, as opposed to retarded russians/eastern europeans/south americans who never listen to you, feed for the entire game and suck in general.
It means you have people you can communicate with, as opposed to retarded russians/eastern europeans/south americans who never listen to you, feed for the entire game and suck in general.
Because the "US citizen" status automatically makes you a good, communicative player, right?
Because the "US citizen" status automatically makes you a good, communicative player, right?
It means you can speak English and, at the minimum, talk to each other in the same language.
wat
I think he doesn't mean entirely pay2win, but there are runes that improve your abilites like armor and other things slightly. There is no such thing in Dota 2.

That of which I'm so masochistic I've collected 1100 hours over a year period.
I think he doesn't mean entirely pay2win, but there are runes that improve your abilites like armor and other things slightly. There is no such thing in Dota 2.
that and you need to buy your heroes in league
I wanted to get into MOBA's but I've always rage at this game at myself and at other players for failing to do their jobs right. I end up having a losing streak where most of the problem is foreign speakers and newbies or veteran players continue to feed the enemy. Sometimes I wish there was a special form of region lock where you have to buy a key to transfer your location, similar to what League of Legends does, so I get less russian speakers and spanish speaking people in my matchmaking and have more people who speak english.
that and you need to buy your heroes in league
which you can do without paying a single penny, plus it adds some feel of progression to the game which isn't a bad thing
I think he doesn't mean entirely pay2win, but there are runes that improve your abilites like armor and other things slightly. So if you buy any hero you want with IP till your level 30, Your not going to have alot of IP to spend on runes and thus forced to grind even more to get what you need. But you purely buy heroes with RP, your going to have a ton of IP to spend on runes when you reach 30. Dota 2 is simply better for removing the out of game advantages entirely.
which you can do without paying a single penny, plus it adds some feel of progression to the game which isn't a bad thing
General question; How does a game with 100+ characters be balanced, but also offer the progression thing? Essentially, what's the difference between a support champion you unlock early on, and a support champion you unlock in later levels? Or do I misunderstand the unlocking system?
Don't forget, this is a nice business for the company, why do you think it's one of the most played MOBA's of all time?
It's also a nice business not screwing over your customers by locking content in a competitive game.
