[Hardware] Asus n75SF not charging ...battery or port?
5 replies, posted
So I have a asus n75SF, its a great laptop and been using it for ..a year (?) now.
Never had any other problems with it then software, but right now I have a hardware problem.
The charger is pretty big & annoying, it worked fine until tonight, i just open'd my laptop and plugged in the charger, but it wasn't charging.
The battery didnt say it was charging and the light under neat my mouse pad didnt turn orange,
Normally I would blame the charger , but in this case it's pretty awkward.
So :
My charger is an "o" and the pin is in the port, when inserted it doesnt charge.. playing around with it (slowly turning it etc) it does work, but when i let go of it it stops charging.
I tried looking in the port with a flashlight, it looks perfectly fine to me.. same with the "o" plug.
Is my problem the port, or the charger?
Do I have to send it up for repair or get a new charger?
Kind regards
TL;DR
The charger has an "O" shape and the port an "I" , the battery wont charge unless play around with the charger and holdng it in exact position,
not sure if problem is port or charger.
It's the port, and it's not the battery. The laptop will work just fine without the battery even plugged in as long as the charger is plugged in. It's pretty common for the charger plug on laptops to break, you just have to take the laptop apart and re solder the connections.
Or if you still have a warranty...

Yet again, it could also be the charger's cable. You can know for sure when you try this charger on another laptop (watch the voltages) or another charger on your laptop (again watch the voltages).
Going back to the store I got it from they can probably help me as they have the exact same charger so we can try it out, i still have warranty so else we can just send it up for repair.
Thanks for your help , really hoping its the charger...but probably it's the port.
Sometimes it's the chargers end.
Yup it was the port, up for repair now and dont have to pay a single penny for it to be repaired, I now have my old laptop ... so now its just waiting, still thanks for the reply's .
Kind regards
