Alright, several days ago I bought a Western Digital Caviar 250Gb Hard Drive. After it arrived, I promptly installed it with the rest of my rig and booted up. Then I began experiencing problems.
As soon as I switched my PC on, my HDD made beeping noises. Always 3 beeps then a pause before doing it again, similar to the beeps in this video.
I've no way to be sure but I am almost certain that the beeping is being emitted from the HDD, although I have no clue as to how it can even be making that sound, but I am fairly certain it's not the write head whacking itself against the spindle. I have checked for mistakes in wiring and such multiple times, nothing is wrong.
Also, the PC refuses to boot no matter what, it won't boot from the HDD, CD-ROM or anything else. UB couldn't even run.
I've concluded it is probably a defective HDD, but I'm still not sure. Is there anything anyone can suggest before I file for replacement?
tl;dr hard drive is beeping, can't boot at all, help.
Call western digital support, they can tell you why it beeps and if it has a meaning.
Hard Drives don't beep.
Motherboards beep.
3 beeps often means memory, did you accidentally knock it when putting the new drive in? Take the memory out, blow the socket to get rid of any dust then make sure it's pushed in firmly.

This.
Beeps are error codes on the Motherboard. Make sure everything is put in correctly.
Thanks for the suggestions, trying now.

Oh fuck yes, I love you all! I took out the RAM and cleaned it with some fluid and an earbud, then inserted it into a different RAM slot. The beeping has stopped. :buddy:
Thanks for the help guys, although I was pretty dumb for not thinking of this myself, however I didn't know 3 tones was a memory centered problem.
