My phone got taken away due to me being an idiot. So I figured I'd get a texting app, and most sucked, but I picked up the free version of TextFree and it blew my mind.
So essentially I have a $1 credit in my iTunes so it'd be only $4.99 to me, but there are a few drawbacks
1. My dad has access to my transactions. He's not the parent mad at me, but I don't want to take that chance... then again, $5 won't break the bank right?
2. There's always a chance my iPod gets confiscated.
3. $5 for unlimited texting? Please, an iPhone/iPod app shouldn't cost more than $2-$3.
So... please advise Facepunch.
No get text +. All you have to do is deal with little ads at the bottom of the screen and its free, and unlimited too.
text+ is slow as hell

ahh fuck it I just bought it. shit happens if something goes bad right?
Why the fuck are you worrying, it's $5
I think OP stole the money from his parents. Stole their credit card.
it's called my bank account. which is why it syncs up to my mail address. it's uh, not uncommon for 16 year olds to have bank accounts.
I got textfree off of Installous, but if I didn't have a jailbroken iPod, it would have been worth every cent.
I read somewhere that they have a UDID blacklist and I figured "might as well not risk it." With apps like that, the constant updates are almost necessary too.
The new update 3.2.1 crashes like hell though, "Improved stability" my ass
I've had it for about a month and it works perfect...
Don't get textPlus, it censors all of the swear words.

and Textfree (the paid version) is fast as shit and a lot less laggy
oh shit youre gunna be poor
I just use yahoo messenger or plain old email. SMS is your friend.
I've been using textfree for 6 months now, since I live overseas and I like to text my girlfriend back in the states. Works like a charm, I have never had a problem.

in case you and the above people havent noticed I already bought it
Google voice would have been better. It's a permanent number and it works well from safari, and works very well from the browser. Texting of course, the talking requires that you have a phone.
I don't mind using text+'s free version. I manually removed the ads via SSH.
I just use good old fashioned:
phone-number@cellprovider.com
