• Hard drive problems?

Well, for some reason after taking out the SATA cable from my mobo/hdd, and then putting it back, whenever I try to boot into Windows I just got a black screen, so then I changed the boot order to boot from my hdd, and now when I boot after the "Starting Windows" screen the computer reboots [before the orbs come] How did disconnected my hard drive and reconnecting it cause this problem? And how do I fix it?
Did you unplug it while the computer was on? I would assume not, but if you did, you probably corrupted the journal entries (or something else, for that matter). If you have your win7 disc, put it in and boot into the startup repair (can't quite remember how to get there from the first screen, but it should be pretty obvious). If you don't have your win7 disc, try getting either spotmau or some other live boot cd with some disk checking tools (there are several out there, but I personally use spotmau), and run the tools on the hdd in question (I assume it is a boot drive?). I know that this probably won't help much, but hopefully it does. Good luck!
I didn't take it out while the computer was on [hurr] and when I try to boot into startup repair [without the disc] it just hangs when it says its loading the files or whatever
I had a similar problem a week ago. Turns out the HDD just straight up died. I bought a new one the next day. Luckily I was able to boot an Ubuntu live CD and salvage what files I could onto my external for the time being.
