http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-970-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1060/2577vs3639 a 200$ card that's between a 970 and 980 and looks like a baby gpu tbh I wish I was building a 2nd PC. Having a 1060 in a non gaming pc would be cool
How does this stack up agaisnt an OC 470 or a regular 480?
I'm definitely gonna keep this in mind when I dig out my previous rig. With a couple updates it could decently play games at non max detail. Or actually I might replace my 770 with this one, but I'm not sure it'd be a smart move

If you're really struggling with a 770 a 1060 isn't going to keep up too much longer.
How does this stack up agaisnt an OC 470 or a regular 480?
about equal (assuming you mean an AMD 480 and not the GTX 480)
Now I have a reason to build a new HTPC.

Otherwise this aint worth it.

How would this fair in comparison to my... GTX 550 Ti

How much of an upgrade is this from a 780Ti? Could use an intermediary card until I save up for a new rig.
How much of an upgrade is this from a 780Ti? I really don't like the fact that they cut the amount of CUDA cores and still call it 1060, as if the RAM amount was the only difference. Should've at least called it 1060 SE, so you know you're buying the "shit edition". With the cut CUDA cores it should basically match the RX 480 in performance (within a couple of percent at least). The power efficiency (and probably superior cooler) might be worth the $20 over the RX 480 4GB, though then you might as well look at the RX 470 as well. Woops, MSRP is apparently $200.
How would this fair in comparison to my... GTX 550 Ti
I think a 1060 alone blows my 760 GPU out of the water so I imagine you would also be getting a sizeable upgrade.
What about the standard 780? I don't think I will need to upgrade it soon right?
I'm still rockin' a 670. I think I could upgrade to pretty much anything and get a good boost at this point.

A 770 struggles with getting 1080p60 in games like Witcher 3 and DOOM 2016 on most settings while a 970 can run them out without a problem. IMO a 770 to a 970 is not a worthy upgrade.
Beware: the 3gb version of the 1060 uses a slightly slower GPU than the 6gb one
How does this stack up to an HD7870? Been wanting to upgrade for a while and the 480 was looking tempting, buti wouldn't mind going back to NV if the price was right.
