• Problems Booting Up Windows XP (Resolution Issue that goes deeper)
    2 replies, posted
So a while back, I hooked this old HP comp running WinXP to a TV. My brother took the TV to Uni with him though and I forgot to set the resolution back to something my old monitor can handle. So I decided to try running it in safemode to change it back like any other person would. Now here's the catch. It's not loading safemode. Admitadley, this is my tinkering computer. I have ubuntu installed alongside windows which has worked fine for almost a year now. Now it tries to boot, but then goes blank with a notice on my monitor saying it cant handle the resolution. I tried running a restore, but I am unable to do that as well. At the startup screen, I hit f10 to try to restore it, but the computer does not respond to it. However, when I hit f1 for boot options and whatnot, that works fine. I don't know where to start looking for the problem with such limited access to my computer. Thanks in advance for any help you fine folks can provide. [editline]3rd March 2012[/editline] This is a problem. Now I don't even get the boot menu. I start it up and it goes blank...
does booting from a live-cd work?
Did you unplug your S-video out cables? Sometimes they'll get priority.
