it cost $350 for 7 days but is it worth paying for it ( yes I plan on at least 3 big train rides in Japan ) and if so for the people of Facepunch who have been to Japan and have used it what's it like inside
Japan isn't small, I'd get a train pass. Trains are cool, plus easier to get around.
Investigate discount buses too...when I went to Kyoto from Tokyo, it was a more affordable option than the train.
Trains are definitely worth using in Japan. It's probably the easiest form of public transportation there.
Compare the prices for individual ticket and a rail pass. On my last few trips it I went to Kyoto and Hakone so it was cheaper to buy tickets for Tokyo-Kyoto-Hakone-Tokyo individually. It all depends on where you are going I guess, rail pass is worth it if you are going on a trail a lot of times or going somewhere far on a train.
I plan on seeing Tokyo,Osaka,Hiroshima, and ( shimonoseki or Fukuoka )
yeah japanese trains are nice (at least the shinkansen trains are). i lived there for about 5 years.

shimonoseki or Fukuoka which one is better . ?
I got a Suica card and loaded 10000 yen on it when I was there. That got me to pretty much every possible corner between Yokohama and Chiba. You on the other hand want to be travelling a bit beyond the Kanto plains, it seems.
