My HD4870 recently started glitching and after cleaning it of dust, replacing drivers etc i think ive established its basically gone so I need a new graphics card. The thing is, I dont play video games often, but sometimes I'll play L4D2 or TF2, and id like to be able to play them on full settings. Whats a decent card that wont cost me a lot, but can still play source games (and maybe oblivion) pretty well? My specs are Q6600 2.4ghz cpu 4gb DDR2-800 Ram HD4870 (broken) 500gb hard drive this pic is of me playing tf2, the blue dots everywhere are also happening on my desktop :/

How much money do you have to spend
anywhere from $80-100 australian dollars is fine.
Probably a 5770.
You should really just spend an extra $30 or so and get a 5770 http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=193_962&products_id=14065
How much better is it than the HD4870? Also I have a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L motherboard, is it compatible?
They are quite similar in performance, maybe not quite as good as the 4870 AFAIK
How did you clean out the dust on your old card?
Run HW Monitor, might be temperature problems. http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html
an 5770 is about $150 these days.
