HOTS still has a learning curve. They took mechanics away from creeps, and then added mechanics to the maps. Each map plays almost completely differently, which has a learning curve inherently. It still relies greatly on teamwork, but it attempts to lessen the damage one person can do by making levels teamwide. To say that HOTS is less toxic(by their definition of toxic) is a joke. Also, I don't see HOTS going anywhere with it's ludicrous prices on heroes. Then again, it is a Blizzard game, so people might be more willing to pay up front with cash.
