There is a Gigabyte HD5770 on craigslist for $60. I know it's not the best card but I do not need that great of a card. Should I bite? I would'nt be able to use it for a while because of PSU woes, but I may be able to snag a PSU for cheap as well. My money reserves are at $120 right now...
Thanks for the heads up.
I don't think he's gonna ship to the Netherlands
It's better to find someone in your area. A lot of scammers on Craigslist.

You can have some startech 500 watt psu I have for 10 bucks.

Edit: Case is gone. Think I could risk it on a 400w PSU? It's an Ultra V Series
Edit: Case is gone. Think I could risk it on a 400w PSU? It's an Ultra V Series
If the PSU weighs less than a spiral notebook, it's shit. From the images I see on Google, it looks of questionable quality. I'd have to see the inside to judge it. A quality 400W PSU could handle a 5770 fine, but a trash unit would burn/explode when it got a load on it.
I don't think he's gonna ship to the Netherlands
He's from the Netherlands Antilles, which are islands just below the coast of Florida.
Still a long ass time from New York
Not as long as shipping half way across the world to the netherlands :v:
Off topic
I'd make him show it working in a computer first before buying it.
Still a long ass time from New York
I actually buy all my computer parts in the US, I just ship them to a freight forwarder in Miami, Florida and they ship it to my island. The only thing the seller knows is that I apparently live in Miami. Works well.

Also, do met at each other house, or don't let him meet at your house. Never know what kind of person he/she is. Agree to meet in a some what public area, Maybe a huge parking lot. Do the exchange at the same time.

i don't trust electronics on craigslist because you don't know why they replaced it or are selling it at a decent price the 5770 is a good card but your main problem is that if your computer can't already handle it then it's probably shit in the first place, a 500w psu is not high end and if your computer doesn't have one the motherboard and processor probably suck because it's a prebuilt, which also means that the card might not even fit because it's a good 10"-11"

It will go in to my personal PC when i purchase the rest of the parts. I just want to get the card now if it is a good deal Edit: Personal PC. Ha an oxymoron

If you deal locally and use common sense to avoid scams, you can find killer deals. I got a barely used 21" Trinitron CRT for $30 (retails for $400+) and it works like a champ. I also got an Antec ARIA case with motherboard, CPU and RAM for free (the case alone is still in the $150-200 range.) The only problem with it was a blown PSU from the shitty "Fuhyjju" capacitors and a exploded Zener diode (from failing caps), which I managed to fix for $15 in parts and a few hours of my time.
If anyone cares the guy hasn't emailed back yet.
CL gives you the opportunity to see what you're buying before you buy it if you aren't a lazy fucker and have transportation
Yeah not everyone on CL is just out to scam you and cheat you out of your money. The guy is probably just upgrading to something more powerful than a 5770.
CL is usually better than ebay, atleast you know where to guys lives after so you can slash his tires.
I agree with all of the above. I found a GTS 250. As I know little on Nvidia cards, could someone tell me if I should try to haggle it down(140)or what.
a 5770 blows a 250 out of the water and by the time you have enough money to buy your computer the 5770 won't be worth getting anymore, unless you're getting paid next week
