I am looking to explore Virtual Machine software. Suggestions?

Title pretty much says it all. I want to explore different software/possabilities and I would love a feirce kick in the right direction. I am looking for a complete OS VM, and am wanting to expand my knowledge as much as possible.
What VM software have you used before?
Is there more "beginner" type software?
Any other tips that you can put in towards the thread are appreciated.
VirtualBox.
Go with VirtualBox like Darkimmortal suggested.
Shit's easy as hell to use.
Depends on what type of VM you're looking for... if you're looking to get into a production environment-type setup or just something to test out OS's. If you're looking for a hypervisor style setup (no base OS just a bunch of VM's running on a server; production environment) I recommend Xenserver personally, but for a beginner ESXI is probably a better route. To just mess around and get into it, Virtualbox or VMWare definitely...
It comes down to what you want to do, and what type of OS you're planning on running for VM's. Linux runs better on some and Windows better on others... some have support some don't, and some are just a straight up pain in the ass to get running on certain platforms...
