the most ambitious Hitman ever created
This really doesn't have to mean anything other than "We have more people working on it than ever".
Here's to hoping they stay far away from trying to have some kind of complicated story about 47 and just stick to making every mission enjoyable and unique with good replay value. Blood Money was such a good game but Absolution was nothing but a well polished turd.
As far as pre-rendered cutscenes go gotta admit that one was pretty neat though.
They will continue in the same vein as apesolution have some emotional plot trying to make 47 relateable while you dress up as a wrestler and fight giant men

I'm more concerned about it playing like a poor man's splinter cell like absolution did.
2012's Hitman: Absolution was savaged by critics and fans alike, but the series endures and plans are afoot for big changes.
Last year the studio revealed some details about the game, saying it will adopt "open, non-linear level design" taking place in "huge, checkpoint-free sandbox levels".
I think IO realizes what the fans want.
Did you guys even watch the show ? This will be something completely new, basically a Hitman early access, where they will continue working on the game after it goes live, adding new skills and features. And not only they will add new contracts, but the players will also make ones too and can share it with others. Also they mentioned some time limited contracts where you have only 48 hours to make the hit otherwise the target is gone. This I don't like because what if I play it in a year or two, how much will I miss ?
It all sounds to me like it's not a game, but a assassination game service.
I know this will piss some people off, but I'd love to see a "coop" mode where you and other assassins (you won't know who they are) race to assassinate a target. The more creative the assassination the more points made. The target will change every round.
I remember when absolution came out, people in the hitman thread defended it saying "just because it isn't blood money v2 ppl dun't like it uurrgghhh"
Well suck on that.
This one cannot come out too soon though.

I hope it works out. As I understand it IO and Hitman are kind of fucked if this bombs.

It's not a bad game at all, but I also don't think it's a very good Hitman game.

But they're right (and I was probably one of those people) it's not a bad game. It's pretty fun. It's just the direction they took from blood money wasn't for the best.
I'm sure everyone is glad to see it return to its roots, whether they enjoyed Absolution or not - I know I am.

It's really true though, they're treating it like a platform/service rather than just a "game". Don't know how they're going to sustain it considering sales only go so far, but if they make this Workshop-friendly, this will be the Hitman to end all Hitman games.
Most stylish trailer of this year's E3 for sure. Really hope the soundtrack of the game itself will be as good as that of Blood Money.
and you will also win if you assassinate the assassin.
Imagine a gamemode where you and one other person spawn as random people from competing agencies and you both are given the same target, you could work together or you could take each other out, but the person who dies respawns as security and is given another chance to take out the assassin. It'd be a nice twist on their work with Kane and Lynch's Fragile Alliance multiplayer mode.
