Just don't support it. They'll realise that no one is paying for this shit and hopefully scrap it.
If a modder wants to monetize his mod there's no shame in asking for donations. If people find your content deserving enough people will generously donate
i think that modders should be able to sell their mods like any other product on the market but at the same time there's so many problems with letting them do so that they'd might as well keep it free.
i guess the easiest thing to do would just to have a donation link.
They need to make being able to donate VERY convenient. If you have to go out of your way to donate, very few people will actually do it. On the other hand, if you can just easily click a button and send a dollar or two the creator's way, I'm sure a lot of people would do it.

The problem is that console users will buy it, especially those on PS4 as they got screwed over when Beth tried to give them mods.
Then it becomes not a case of "Paid mods didn't work" but "PC users are a problem that prevent paid mods from working."
The evolution that might cause in the thinking of companies like Bethesda is dangerous.
Whenever I hear about the paid mods debacle, I can't help but wonder how it would affect the official launch of Unreal Tournament 4 due to them having the paid mods idea before Bethesda did. I'm still expecting a $20 launch just to keep mods free
I mean, convenience is the name of the game for me.
I'd rather pay $30 for a game and have it download at the click of a button than go through the effort of of finding a torrent site, downloading it, setting it up myself, and having to download subsequent patches manually the same way.
On the flipside, I've been tempted to buy Rainbow Six Siege DLC before, but the fact that I have to go through like 3 different webpages to add credits to my account and buy it because of Uplay, I just decided it wasn't worth my time to pay for an operator skin, despite how cool it looked.

The difference is that UT4 is free. Bethesda games are $60 with a season pass and as of recent another $60 for a VR mode.
Microtransactions are a necessary thing for f2p games and I imagine the thing would go over better there than here.
