Without a publisher pushing them they should be able to release a well made game that isn't buggy at release.

that depends on how well in what they accomplish with such a payroll, the double fine game needs more funding which could happen to them.
However, the game is iso which is different in resources then a fps or a click adventure.
broken age needs more money because schafer is bad with money. obsidian is designing and building PE exactly according to what their budget allows. i severely doubt they will run into money issues with it
Tim Schafer has no excuse for wasting 8 million dollars in funding. It's a fucking point and click adventure game.

I love Tim, but he shouldn't be the management of games. He should stick to a design role and not try to produce, much of the things he's produced in his career have folded.

$3.3 million, and it hasn't been wasted. Not a cent of it has been spent yet, it was merely the planning phase.

It's been over a year, I doubt that they haven't spent a cent yet.
Tim Schafer has no excuse for wasting 8 million dollars in funding. It's a fucking point and click adventure game.
The budget for the game was 2.2 million and they've spent about 2 million of their own money in addition to that so far.
While I hope Obsidian does well with Eternity, I'm also interested in seeing if they can competently put something out without their famous "It was the publisher's fault!" claims.
My bet is they have the same shitty QA output as always, then have no idea what to blame it on.
they put out and handled QA on dungeon siege 3 all on their own and it was bug free.

But it was the publishers fault. Especially in the case of New Vegas.
