• 2 Laptops... Which one?

These are the 2 computers I am referring to: AS5552G http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834215037 AS5742G http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834115987&nm_mc=Criteo&cm_cat=Notebooks&cm_pla=Acer+America&cm_ite=34115987&cm_ven=BAC-CriteoBrand I am not really an Intel type of person as I have not had good experiences with them in the past, however I have come across 2 Acer laptops and the only other differences besides the cores is the graphics and AS5552G has a AMD Radeon HD 6650M and the AS5742G has a Nvidea card and upon looking at reviews I have discovered the AMD is a better card even though the computer with the better card is $50 cheaper leaving me with only one possible thought in my mind why the other one costs more. The cores... The AS5552G is an AMD Phenom II Quad-Core N970(2.2GHz) and the AS5742G is an Intel Core i5 480M(2.66GHz). If someone could please explain to me the Intel i series because I am very familiar with the single, dual, 3, and quad cores as they are self-explanatory but I have heard that the number that comes after the i is not the number of cores it has which also seems logical. So which computer and core is better and could you give me a little help with this Intel thing and maybe explain to me what the numbers mean? I would mostly use it for gaming such as Minecraft, GMod, CS:S, and those type of games so I would like the one that would be able to run those games better and don't worry about the price, just whatever computer is better (pretend they both cost $650)
Don't take Acer See instead in Asus laptops instead
Yeah, acer laptops have some of the highest failure rates and worst build quality of all laptop brands. HP isn't much better, as the one above me said Asus is great but so is Lenovo and Dell.
This is usefull: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Games-on-Laptop-Graphic-Cards.13849.0.html

If you find a Sony with a comparable price to a Dell or so, it's very much worth it in my opnion. Wouldn't take it for a same-price ASUS, but they're very nice indeed. Also, HP sucks donkey balls, from my experience.
Just a warning. The laptop with the nvdia card most likely uses optimus as opposed to a manual switch. I'd recommend looking elsewhere if only because of that. If there's anything annoyingly quirky it's exactly that.
It's pretty sad that HP sucks, because they tend to have the good hardware (GT 550/555m or HD 6700-6800M) and screen resolution (1600x900) for my needs. Dell and Clevo are the other ones, but I heard they were somewhat loud (don't know how what it is equivalent to 42-44 Dcb though)

I've currently got an Inspiron 15R, and the fan is pretty damn quiet. Some of the XPS laptops I've seen are a little on the loud side though. My old M1210 wasn't exactly quiet, and the fan would be on quite a lot unless I had my cooling mat underneath it.
