My main computer is crashing (I think) when the motherboard screen comes up while turning it on. I think it's crashing as it's not responding to anything and will just stay on that screen.
I've noticed that I can get past the screen if the light on the DVD drive flashes by holding Esc and the tower makes a clicking noise and goes past the screen. But if the light doesn't flash, then I can't even use that method.
I haven't been able to turn the computer on for about 5 days now.
I'm not sure what the actual problem is, or what's causing it, or if I can fix it without having to replace hardware, since it's only about a year old.
reset cmos
I've tried that before, it only worked temporarily and doesn't work at all now.
How old is the motherboard?
About one year. I've had older motherboards lasting longer than this.
Also the mouse is not lighting up and I can't get into the BIOS.
Try taking out one of the ram sticks.
