I've heard this rumor floating around a lot lately, and so I figured Facepunch would know. Will Verizon customers actually get a taste of the iPhone, or will it stay an ATT exclusive?
Nothing is confirmed. As you said, rumor
Okay.
If it's true chances are you'll find out mid-September or earl next year. It probably is since it sounds like Apple ordered a shitload of CDMA chipsets (needed for something to run on Verizon's network).

You never know, they could be using it for Sprint.
They've been talking about it for quite awhile now. I doubt it's ever going to happen though.
Looks like it might with all the rumours flying around.
I thought with a Jailbroken iPhone it could run Verizon's service. Am I wrong?
I don't think so, since the iPhone is only compatible with GSM and networks and Verizon's is CDMA. I'm not sure though since I'm from the UK and we don't have any of that lark (all our networks are GSM).
Even if it's possible with a Jailbreak an official Verizon iPhone is expected.
My friend was going to buy a droid to use in the UK off of the Verizon network... He didn't know it was CDMA

He found a GSM one

Lucky him for being in the UK since UK has only one set of 3G bands, 1700/2100Mhz vs the US having two which would render 3G on the Droid useless. :(
CDMA is stupid and not in the UK

I'm pretty sure they can only run on iPhone-compliant networks. Like if you're an American using AT&T you can connect to a Canadian iPhone service carrier like Rogers or Telus.

Its a GSM phone, regardless if its jailbroken or unlocked; it will only work on GSM networks.
