"Announced earlier this year" You mean late last year?
But then again, Gabe time...
These cost way more than I was expecting.

500$ and up is a lot?
It's just plain normal computers with a linux build in them. It's not consoles or anything, it's just yet another set of pre-built gaming PCs, only difference is that an actual game developer has had their hand in the process and can put a guarantee on their performance on a set library of games.
How do you expect them to go much lower than that when they're meant to be gaming PCs? Not to mention the small size of the cabinet it's all supposed to be crammed into.
Anyone else completely unable to open the PDFs? On chrome they won't load and I even tried Photoshop and it said I was out of RAM.

I meant the higher priced ones, I was expecting these to be like console priced. I doubt anyone looking for a living room PC is going to spend thousands of dollars on a PC.

Savings are passed on via games and sales on steam though.

Then they can one of the Steam Machines that are less than a thousand dollars. Subsidising hardware isn't a good sign.
Wow I'm surprised Webhallen is there, they're semi-big electronics retailer here in Sweden. They're great though.
All I can say, good luck Valve.

This is Webhallens Steam box page. I'm cringing so hard.
