I can't see why GO would be any different honestly.
I can't see why GO would be any different honestly.
Well for one, the teams are 5 v 5 instead of 5 v 5.
I do hope to see a similair tournament like International for CS:GO.
Imagine if CS:GO goes free to play and gets a better system then cases to directly support tournaments(like tickets in DOTA 2).
CS:GO going free to play would be chaos
do you know what smurf accounts are.
I can't see why GO would be any different honestly.
To be fairly honest I'd actually find a FPS tournament as big as the Dota international to be a lot more interesting. The international is fun and all but matches are fucking 40 to 60 minutes long at the very least and there are gaps of like 5 to 10 minutes where nothing happens at all for quite some time.
A huge csgo tournament would be fucking rad to watch.
I'll be all over a Valve-sponsored CS:GO major tournament.
I actually don't know how there has never been one.
Does that mean I could bring my P90 pray and spray tactics to the attention of everyone for mad bucks too? Wicked! Sign me right up.
we need a Valvecon, with tournaments for every valve game, steam dev days and a steam sale on top of it.
I wouldn't mind buying a compendium-type thing for CS:GO as long as it had a ton of content just like the Dota 2 version.

FPS games are nowhere near as popular as MOBAs.
FPS games are nowhere near as popular as MOBAs.
CS:GO has about 1/5th DOTA 2's size though. and alot of them are already paying users.
maybe if you stopped to think how much money go into mobas youd realise why mobas have a huge fuckin crowd these days
This would be 100x more interesting that the international.
wait shit that would still be zero

have you actually watched pro csgo play or are you just pulling this from your games at silver 2

forget smurf accounts, there are way more idiots paying for boosted accounts than people actually good enough to smurf
we need a Valvecon, with tournaments for every valve game, steam dev days and a steam sale on top of it.
10 million Ricochet tournament, fuck yeah!
^ thought the same thing.
A $5mil CSGO tournament would be fucking insane it needs to happen.
forget smurf accounts, there are way more idiots paying for boosted accounts than people actually good enough to smurf
Boosting is a lot harder than it used to be. If the person who is boosting you gets vac banned then the games you played with him in your lobby no longer count toward your rank.
In order for CS:GO to become that popular though it'd have to become F2P in my opinion.
And smurfs really aren't as huge as an issue as people make them out to be, especially in Dota. The whole Ranked / Unranked and MMR system filters them pretty nicely. Whenever a player gets a smurf it usually ends up back at the player's original account's MMR very quickly. A perfect example would be Arteezy (a professional Dota player): he has almost ten smurfs, and all of which are getting matched up with top of the leaderboard players within a week of him setting them up.

Boosting? I hope you realize that if you play with and against players who're significantly better than you, you're going to be a dead-weight for your team and lost all of your games.

EMS One katowice kind of was, but not to Ti standards
we need a Valvecon, with tournaments for every valve game, steam dev days and a steam sale on top of it.
The Comp TF2 tournament would be in tiny room away from the rest of the con, with a Valve employee occasionally looking in the window and glaring at everybody.

They've most definitely reached the point where they should have their own E3 conference or convention, I'd be shocked if they decided to never go for it.
Can we get TF2 ranked play please.
It'd probably be best for the CS:GO devs to keep it under the same International identity.

valve don't need one

best way for viewers to go about it would be to run one in summer and one in winter although that would probably put quite a bit of strain on valve
FPS games are nowhere near as popular as MOBAs.
You w8 mate. FPS is like the most popular competitive game genre. It's just that Dota 2 and LoL set the bar higher with prize pools and stuff. And CS GO is currently the best competitive game.
I actually don't know how there has never been one.
There have been two: DreamHack Winter 2013 and ESL One Katowice earlier this year.

Pro90s aren't even a thing with top tier games, and for a reason: an AK or a M4 can pop your head off in one shot.

Closer to 1/7th or 1/8th.
