I'm planning on buying a laptop in a month or two and will probably spend $400-600 on it, maybe more as I make $400 a week and don't have to pay rent, purchase food etc etc.
Weight doesn't matter, it could be 25 pounds for all I care- I'm not a twelve year old pansy. It does need a decent battery life(~3 hours), quite a bit of space for games/movies/music, and the ability to play games like HoI3, Sims 3, Arma 2.
ArmA 2 on a laptop? Are you prepared for some shit graphics?
I mean ArmA 2 manages to look ok at medium settings and what not, but I think your expectations might be a bit high for $400-600 dollars.
Haha, games on a laptop! :v:

Shut up.
I payed 499£ for my laptop and it runs gta4 on medium textures and everything else high at a playable fps at 720, I also ran cod5 on it all on high at full res off a battery for nearly a hour with no performance loss

You're living in the past.
Onboard graphics chips are getting canny powerful, Sure They'll never mtch up to gaming PCs (Unless It's an alienware, in which case, They can...).. But hell I can plays Sims 2 on my Acer aspire one Netbook

for about 3x the price
I'd rather carry around a full tower and monitor all the time than pay that much just to have gaymen el ee deez
Arma 2 on a laptop for 600 bucks? I bet if it will run, it will run on max 10 fps all low

Doesn't change the fact that performance laptops exist ;)

I grew up in the 90's playing games like zelda and golden eye, graphics aren't entirely important. I'll probably be spending 1k on it("400-600, maybe more"), Arma 2 isn't all that important either, games similar to HoI3 and the sims 3 are.

I said good, Not cheap.
Their higehst end offerings have SLI, And 3 HDDs in a Raid array, TV Tuner, 18" 1920x1200 display and a core2 extreme processor...
There aren't many laptop makers that do such devices.
Of course they are going to cost more, the market is limited, But I have not once mentioned cost as being a strong point.
(F.Y.I: That's my agree)
