Hey, so here is my problem:
-Im trying to start steam, like i would any other day.
-I moved my PC to another spot in the room, with better connection (it had 2 bars, now 3-4)( i had to move my printer, PC + all wires and cable wires, 32" monitor/TV, desk, and 5 foot bookshelf, so im NOT moving it back unless i have too)
-Im connected wirelessly (which may be the problem) so i might hook it up to my dads motem downstairs.
SO: I try to start steam, but a small window pops up and says: Steam-Updating- Steam Platform, and it wont go past 28%. Everytime it does, it goes back to 0%, and closes the window. So far, ive tried:
-Deleting ClientRegistry.blob (twice)
-Restarted Computer (three times)
-Ive waited for 1hour+ (went to soccer practice while it was downloading, came back and it was at 0% STILL)
-Exiting Steam.exe from Applications in Windows Task manager. (5 times+)
Idk what the problem is, ive tried doing what the Steam support page says, but it wont work. I got on earlier today, and the download was fine, but i restarted PC because Gmod Froze when i spawned 10 Space nukes in sb_gooniverse...wanted to make the moon blowup :P . Anyway, i got a new processor, Graphics card AND 1TB hard drive (to play Bad Company 2 and all my other fav games that i wanna run on HD), so nothing is out-of date. Please help!! if you need more info, ask and ill give you what u wanna know.
Oh yea, im also running the Beta version of the steam platform.
sweet, new high- 38%, but it still stopped and went back to 0% >:[
Delete ClientRegistry.blob in steam folder.
HE JUST SAID HE DELETED THAT TWICE. Rate him bad reading.
Try backing up all of your gcf's and then reinstalling steam.
Remove all files in the steam folder exept for steam.exe, it redownloads everything.

with the minor exception of the steamapps folder. There shouldn't ever (to my knowledge) be a reason to actually DELETE this folder.

Except if the GFC is damaged, also i said every FILE, the folders need to stay.
If you are using the beta, change the shortcut to steam to whatever it is now and add "-clearbeta" at the end of it with out the quotes. Did the same thing to me.
It works eventually, I have had this problem before, deleting clentregistry.blob and restarting my PC got it working. It took around 4 hours one time for it to finally work as it updated so slowly, it can take longer, it can be shorter, you just got to have patience.
