• Phone tethering not working on my phone only?
    2 replies, posted
Well, I am running Ubuntu 11.10 and at college I am going to be tethering my phone to my laptop using the wifi hotspot app on my phone. I turn on my wireless hotspot on my mobile phone and I can see the network fine on my laptop. I click connect and it attempts to connect but nothing happens, my friends can connect with their phones to my wireless hotspot but I can't connect using my laptop. If they turn on their wireless hotspot on their phone I can connect to their internet using my laptop. I have a HTC Legend mobile phone and my network card on my laptop is a "03:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR928X Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01)" Anyone got any ideas on why this might be?
what carrier do you use? I believe some carriers block phone tethering without paying extra for it.
What phones do they have? is your phone running cm7? stock? is it rooted? are you using barnacle or the built in tether? what carrier do you have? You left out too much information and the problem is probably with your phone
