and not that thing with the usb...
What wireless encryption is it using?
none now byt i imagine its the one with you own custom password a phrase or something
You can go ahead and attempt to brute forge the WPA key. I won't tell you how to do it, I suggest reading a few books on encryption and networks security.
You can also reset the router, grab the default user/pass, and log in yourself.
Plug it in vai network cable go 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 User name will probbly be:
User : Pass
Admin admin
admin root
admin <blank>
admin netgear
As long as they use WEP, it would be very easy to crack with backtrack linux: http://www.backtrack-linux.org/ . A WPA key would be much more difficult to crack, but not impossible - it just needs to be composed of simple dictionary works that can be brute forced.
Plugging in a network cable will work, too. Look up the default username/password for the router, and try that to get in. The IP to access it should be 192.168.1.1, but check to see the default gateway in your network settings to be sure. Then, you can disable the key, or at least change it. If you change the username and password as well, your parents won't be able to change it back without doing a hard reset of the router.
Keep in mind, I do not condone you doing any of this - I am simply providing the information for you, and you can do whatever you want with it.
