• Windows 7 Backup & Restore backing up things that aren't checked (and therefore shouldn't)

Many moons ago, I attempted backing up all of the stuff on my SSD (120 GB Crucial M4) and a bit of stuff on my secondary HDD (1 TB WD Caviar Black) to an external drive (a 1 TB WD Elements). It's not possible for me to back up the entirety of the CB and the M4 without going over the capacity of the external drive in question, so I've only selected some stuff from the CB to have backed up. This worked for a little bit, and the backups completed successfully. However, one day, the Win7 Backup & Restore utility decides somehow that it should back up some of the stuff that I've specifically left out (mainly the space hoggers such as video recordings, old Dota 2/CS:GO/TF2 replays, etc) in the setup area for it. This would cause the free space on the drive to go to zero, and since I knew something was up beforehand, I decided to abort the backup when the drive starts getting low (around ~30 GB left). Today, I tried this again, but I selected the entirety of the Caviar Black, and then deselected to make sure nothing from there should be backed up. The utility decides to anyways (D:\ filenames started showing up after a little bit). This is the settings that the utility should abide by (only exceptions on C:\ are CS:GO/Dota 2 replays): Google got me nothing, so it appears I'm alone in having this issue. Some assistance please!
I don't really trust the the "onboard" backup utility of windows. Not really much control, not configurable enough, sometimes unreliable etc. I personally use and recommend FreeFileSync, easy to use, fast, solid. If you need any help setting it up, PM me, but should be easy to handle on its own.
I'll look into FFS tomorrow if this turns out to be a FUBAR situation. Any other ideas as to why Windows' utility would be doing this (and a fix, if possible)?
I wouldn't bother, it just behaves weird from time to time, like not enough space even if their is double of free space then the data that is to be backed up, also it takes to long for my taste.
I apologize for the necrobump, but I don't want to be a DenverCoder9. I figured out why: silly me decided to put one of the gigantic folders I had on my Caviar Black inside of a Win7 library. Because I was carpet backing up all of my libraries, Windows decided to ignore the unchecking of my recordings folder and follow the library instructions instead. I didn't really use that library anyways, so I got rid of it, and already things are looking infinitely better. To someone that might see this thread in however long - check your libraries and see if you have a gargantuan folder included in one.
