I hope not. I'd rather have games that have lots of interactivity than watching 3D movie with occasional interaction.
He isn't wrong thought. Not going to read article. Althought movies will stay their own thing but VR movies which will be a entirely new movie genre'. May it be 3D or camera shot. Will be semi interactive. They are working on that as we speak. We'll see mostly some short movies popping up this year but full length interactive movies ARE coming.

Was wondering when some of that fame would start getting to his head
Was wondering when some of that fame would start getting to his head
No surprise that he'd have such an opinion on that topic. He has always been a fan of movies and has always been trying to put as much as possible from movies into his games. It already started withe MGS series, every game had insanely good cinematics (and also very long ones) and they each got better and better with every new game he put out.
Quantum Break The Movie
Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game was really ahead of it's time
If all gamedevs were Kojima, this would happen years ago.
Why are you guys always opposed to different types of experiences? There's nothing wrong with using games as a medium even if you personally don't enjoy the result.
I understand his point but I think that's an unlikely scenario.
movies are playable
A video game, if you will
games, novels and films will "merge into one type of entertainment".
What does this even mean
Nothing new here. It's been done for a while. Hopefully he doesn't mean in general, that would just be wrong.
Sorry Mr. Kojima but I'd rather engage my free time into a game with an excellent gameplay or a movie with an excellent story than a game-movie that will probably be mediocre on both aspects.
We already have a couple of those. Until Dawn was one for example, even used the actor models etc. While those might get a bit more common I don't think they will take over. Its not like you can merge all video games with movies anyways, there are way too many types of games.
If all gamedevs were Kojima, this would happen years ago.
You sure? Telltale games, David Cage games, and 30fps shooters were/are all pretty popular at one time but they didn't overtake the majority of gamers.
Was wondering when some of that fame would start getting to his head
kojima has always been obsessed with movies, you only need to look as early as snatcher (1988) to see that its just his style [editline]26th January 2017[/editline]
"What I really want to avoid is, like you see in some games, characters with big breasts with no back story.
kojimas an ass man
