As soon as I boot up SC2, first instance, it crashes, the video just freezes, but I can still hear sound.
I have tried updating drivers and rolling back drivers.

This is inaccurate as it is ddr2 800 and the q9400 is clocked at 3.2ghz. Also my video card is BFG so don't even suggest a RMA.....
Please help.
maybe your g card is over heating. i'm no expert but 59c seems like a high idle. I don't know that card though
9800gt has very high temps, and that idle is fairly normal IMO.
Have you done a complete uninstall and reinstall of your video drivers?
This sounds a lot like either you got something driver related that is not liking the rendering environment or sometime in th epast your card was left to overheat and something in logic was damaged that only gets fucked with whe you run the application but I say it was the first.
My 8800GT starts screwing up at around 70 and our cards aren't that different, just that yours has a slightly different die size.
I think that's the cause, similar things happens to me in Far Cry 2, GTA IV etc, but I can turn on the desk fan that sits next to my PC :v:
Yeah my case's cooling system's a bit fucked.
I also have a fan blowing into my pc, it's definitely not overheating as it immediately crashes as it gets into the game.
Drivers always fuck me over, so I am going to try a clean driver sweep even though I was playing on the same drivers earlier just fine.
edit: tried a driver sweep, didnt work, this card is definitely dead, thanks for all the help though guys, getting the ati 6850
