Well my computer has been getting progressively slow for the past three weeks, when I say slow I mean starting up, I usually don't shut down my pc, I put it in sleep mode. But eventually I do, at the first few times, It took 10 minutes to get to the desktop, then 30, now I waited a day for it to load and it just doesn't respond, it is slow, firefox won't start up, apps don't run, I can't look at my files!
I'm currently in safe mode, trying to find a way out. It's ridiculous, I've tried Malawarebytes, Bitdefender, defraging, I've cleaned out all the dust in it, disableing startup crap and I haven't found a thing that works.
Help me facepunch!

Did you build yourself of prebuilt?
Oh, prebuilt. So, the computer is 3 weeks old? Or since these 3 weeks it's getting slower and slower.
Did you build yourself of prebuilt?
2007 prebuilt, I didn't know a thing about computers back then, and didn't realize that I could of made it cheaper.
Ok, you don't shutdown your PC you put it in safemode what does that mean?
It may be possible after 3 years of rarely shutting the computer down it has overheated.
Well my pc powers off into sleep mode after 10 minutes of not being used, its a low power state.

I think you mean sleep mode, or hibernate mode. Safe mode is a boot option. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safe_mode
sorry, yes that's what I mean, I am in safe mode now.

Try check disk or start up repair. This might take a LONG LONG time, so no matter what do not shut the computer down while it is doing this.

I've tried those,any others?
What crap did you disable at start up? Did you only disable things you are absolutely sure you can?
Only a few unneeded programs I installed, I'm on my pc without safemode, but It is very slow, I use CCleaner and defraggler. I have no idea why.

I'm out of ideas then.. maybe you could recover.
not possible, the last recover was last year. I'd loose too much data.

Back up then recover.
What crap did you disable at start up? Did you only disable things you are absolutely sure you can?
You can disable anything you want at start up. If you can disable it, it doesn't have to run.

I don't know if he changed services or start up.
If you have not reinstalled it for over 3 years its time you do that annyway.
How much disk space are you using on your boot drive?
And what is your current ram/CPU usage while idle.
Yeah I agree on formating the drive, it would deffo fix the problems.
You have too much shit.
i mean come on look at your desktop jesus christ
:downs:
Yeah, reformat that mess.
Did the safe mode boot any faster or was it still very slow?
Alright,
-I have about 45% space used up.
- I defraggle every week, and use CCleaner
- i tried using the vista boot disk, and booted up from it. It didn't work.
-The desktop is only 800/600 res, in safe mode. It's usually cleaner.
- How would I reinstall?
- Safe mode is really fast, I can go on the internet and some apps.

And guys, I have a recovery drive, It has system files on it, can I copy it on my C drive and replace old ones?
Okay I'm thinking about returning everything to when I got it, how can I save my game and personal files with out a hardrive?

Depends.
If you have vista all your old stuff gets dumped into a file called windows old.
Hmm, I'm doing CHkdsk again, it's alot longer than the first time so maybe it can fix something. Does anyone know anything else to help?
This guy had almost the same problem.
Hi Guys, After I log into windows Vista home premium, the desktop appears, and I am able to move my mouse around, but i cant click anything, the start menu does not light up when i hover above it, and it does not respond when i click it. Same applies to everything else on my desktop. Sometimes it responds after 30/40 seconds, but mostly it just hangs, and I have to power off/restart externally.
I also got the "Logon process has failed to create the security options dialog" and "Failure - Security Options" with it.
IT STILL DOESN"T WORK ARA
