Nice
I really like the controller settings in Steam. Game doesn't have controller support? Well guess what boyo, you can just go through Steam instead of a thirdparty program that costs money and set up your controller to emulate a keyboard and mouse and everything'll work fine. Me and some friends played some hotseat Cards Against Humanity with Tabletop Simulator, a PS4 controller, and Big Picture Mode relatively easily.
For shits and giggles I used the default config with Devil Daggers, ain't really playable but works I cant find a option to setup L3 and R3 though [editline]20th January 2017[/editline] For some reason though pressing the Xbox button won't bring up the overlay, even with the setting enabled

And yeah I can't get the Xbox button to work with steam either.

I mean, you can donate but it's still FOSS

You literally cannot use it in any game that has controller support. That and the mouse emulation is pissy.
I'd be happier with Steam's implementation if it wasn't aids to access even if they had a windowed container to show the panorama interface which you can invoke from the desktop client, instead you have to load up the tenfoot interface to modify everything. And to enable/disable, you have to restart the steam client I find, which alternatives already have embedded as a button [t]https://upload.teknik.io/NojNz.png[/t]

I don't understand.
? I don't understand.
I think he tried to say that you need to use big picture mode to edit the controller settings and that you can't easily enable and disable the controller without restarting steam.
People pay for DS4Windows? I mean, you can donate but it's still FOSS
Didn't realize DS4Windows had the functionality, but even then that's just the DS4.

Now just give me Dualshock 3 support Valve.

I use a PS4 controller with DS4 and don't have the options you showed on steam so it may be a Steam Controller only thing.
Windows 10 15014.rs_prerelease broke controller inputs (as in activating it breaks mouse input) but I'll see what if I can gather some intel later
Got a SNES controller to work pretty cool shit to have activators on a SNES controller, Radial menu as well (Which theoretically could give me an 8 way dpad or whatever when I toggle it with a bumper) I'm probably going to fuck around and see how well I can play Dues Ex like this for the hell of it, a game that will... NOT be playable with one :v:
Wait, so how do you actually access this? Is it only a big picture thing?
I believe you need to enable it in big picture mode, yes.
I'm still waiting for Valve to make their Controller API not require steam to work. :unimpressed: This is one of those things which should not be integrated into the steam client. At least the way it is integrated right now.
I assume that's a Win10 issue, you're probably triggering GameBar
That's disabled on my end
I wish the DS3 got easy to use no nonsense drivers
Wait, so how do you actually access this? Is it only a big picture thing?
Currently, yes it seems to be. I think they've got some plans to open it up, but right now it needs some manner to identify which controller to map. The currently active Big Picture controller solves that fine.

That's for portability, so you can quickly use your configs on other computers. You can save configs locally, of course, so it's not required to use its cloud stuff. Their controller API implementation isn't the best but it's already leagues better than other third party controller configurators, and it kinda makes sense for Valve to include their configurator in the Steam client rather than developing a whole new software.
Yeah, when using the registering with a steam controller it'll actually save your configs to the controller itself so you can plug/play at a buddy's house with your personal setup no problem.

Right now you need to run steam in admin mode if you want your controller to work 100% of the time in every situation. Fuck no I ain't gonna do that. Otherwise you can for example try to use the task manager and windows will go "lolnope, you don't have the required privileges for that" and stop accepting inputs from your controller. That's pretty unacceptable for a product that's supposed to be able to fully replace a mouse and keyboard.
