I got a Corsair F40 for christmas, I just tossed win7 on it, and now I wanna know how I can use my current files on the HDD, WITHOUT formatting it.
I use the SSD as system drive ( Win7, drivers etc ) and the HDD has all my old files, games, settings etc. I don't feel like losing them, how can I do this?
-snip-
It should appear right away in "Computer".
just plug the both drives in and boot from the SSD. You can browse your old hdd in windows like a normal drive.
If not right click on my computer-->Manage-->Disk management
I can see all the files, like if the old harddrive was an usb pen.
But is it just that easy?
Yes
So I can just launch a game from steam, and it works?
I have to install it, gah.
Do I need to make any BIOS changes?

Yes.
Should do
Oh. I have to run steam from my HDD in order for that to work.

I can run steam, but I have to download a game whenever I want to play it..

Is your HDD the C drive still ? - if not reinstall steam and move the old sreamapps folder to the new drive's steam apps
My SSD is the C, HDD is F.
If I start a game, it says " Starting....... " and then it dissapears, then nothing.
Reinstall Steam you mean?
That would work, yes.
Delete the steam PROGRAM, not the steamapps folder, reinstall steam and move steamapps folder to new desination!

When uninstalling steam, all games get uninstalled also, you have to backup the steamapps folder first.
Do I install STEAM on the SSD?
Doesn't matter where you install it, it's just so that the registry point to the right path.
I can start Garry's Mod, but not CoD blops..
God this is pissing me off :(
Why you complaining? :v:
I believe if you want to use the HDD to store program and user files you have to change something in the registry so that Windows stops trying to use drive C:.
I have 7 installed on my SSD.
I have alot of data I want to save on my HDD, and I wanna make the SSD load data ( games etc ) from the HDD.
Can anyone give an idiotproof step by step for this?
Download steam
When you install it, install it to another drive
Done
I can install it to the F drive, but I have Steam on the F drive already.
just reinstall to F it will fix it - besure to move steamapps out tho as it will DEL them all

I installed Steam to F, didn't fix it.
Nothing works, can't launch a game. Tried to reinstall, nothing.

And the program files is in steamapps? I'm not sure, but if I remeber correctly I had to move more than just steamapps.
