Yeah, whatever.
I doubt that, I'm still on a fucking 2 meg line. [editline]20th August 2012[/editline] I can't even stream 720p :v:
I'll believe it when I see it.
I don't give a flying fuck about speed, start by getting rid of capped connections by 2015.
When they come out to my little countryside village and fix the fucking 300kb/s we get I'll believe them.
Presumably Lithuania doesn't count as a 'major European country'
i'll believe it when i get off of this 500 kb/s connection

I went from a god awful 56kb/s (on a good day) BSkyB line to a speedy Virgin media 50Mb/s line about 18 months ago, I had an especially bad experience with Sky though, the physical connection to the exchange was partially damaged, which essentially crippled my speeds, I suspected this was the case and told them explicitly to come and check it out, it was only a week before I had scheduled to switch to virgin media that they actually fixed it.
sweden accepts the challenge
Meanwhile Australia thinks 100mbps by 2021 is the future. It sounds good and all, but by 2021 it'll have already become the new 1.5mbps.
Hunt did say some very encouraging things though
"Today's superfast is tomorrow's superslow. Just as the last government was wrong to hang its hat on 2Mbps speeds, we must never fall into the trap of saying any speed is 'enough'."
Capped downloads is shocking and in regards to download speeds just plan your downloads for overnight.
In this town, looks like I won't even get fibre optic either. Really pathetic that for many years I relied on DSL broadband with sluggish speeds, can't move to London or anywhere else. :suicide:
Apparently my city is getting fibre in the near future, but I'll believe it when I see it. I'm supposed to get 24 mb/s but I only get 6-8mb/s which is still okay for what I download but it's still pretty horrible when there's people getting 10x that in other countries and even cities right near to me. Oh and monopolising the internet here is apparently not illegal?
Are they planning on Sweden just stopping at what they have now?
As if, the government wanted to roll out fibre everywhere before the Olympics to ensure everyone could watch it and here I am stuck on a 1 meg line.
I'll believe it when I see it. Also, remember that fast doesn't mean cheap. There won't be any point in providing 100 Mbps internet if nobody can afford it. Or even worse, if it's capped.
I'd fucking hate having a cap. I'd rather have 10% of my current speed than a cap.
https://www.bethere.co.uk/web/beportal/homepage
If I could I would.
When 4G rolls out in the UK it should be faster than most peoples broadband which makes me wonder if people will use 4G in their house.
What people want is: Cheap Broadband, not overpriced dogshit like BT\Virgin offer for an "acceptable speed". No Bandwidth Caps. At least 10mb/s. and of course no hidden costs.
What people want is: Cheap Broadband, not overpriced dogshit like BT\Virgin offer for an "acceptable speed". No Bandwidth Caps. At least 10mb/s. and of course no hidden costs.
Virgin recently dropped their prices so 30Mb/s is now around £10-£15.
Speed is rarely an issue, it's reliability and bandwidth caps.
100 Mbit/s with a 2000GB limit OR 8 Mbit/s without a limit. Guess which one is more useful?
Fastest in Europe? Haha. Please, explain this bullshit. This is MY connection, when I was promised 10-20Mbit speeds and no bandwidth cap, not to mention the fact that they blocked TPB. Fuck you, Sky. Also BT Infinity is still just a shit as everyone else's internet. I've used it and it's actually pretty average. Faster than mine but still pretty meh.

BT Infinity really is not shit. . Fast as hell, great pings and reliable. Try using something properly before spouting your nonsense. If something is wrong with your line, get it looked into by BT.
I don't want to turn this into a post ur speedtest thread but I have Infinity too and it's great
Welcome to Romania, where a 100 Mbps connection costs ~€8.6 a month, and a 50 Mbps one costs ~€6.4. And we've had these prices for years now. Not to mention I get free, unlimited 3G on my smartphone from the same provider. Beat that, UK.
