Any NVIDIA drivers after 314.22 cause major issues with my laptop

So last spring there were new drivers that came after the version I'm currently using; they caused some minor issues with my desktop at home to the point where I had to downgrade to the 314 drivers. I downloaded the 331.65 drivers a couple days ago, and starting last night got random bluescreens and crashes out of nowhere. I managed to boot my computer into safe mode and downgrade back to my 314.22 drivers, but I don't want to be stuck using the same drivers for five years or until NVIDIA gets its head out of its ass and fixes their drivers. Are there any fixes for these issues? Or am I stuck using these drivers until some come along that don't have major PC-breaking flaws?
my GPU is a GTX660m, by the way. And yes, I made sure I downloaded the right drivers for my card.
You can try updating your motherboard firmware.
