• Oh god I am not good with computer, another problem - Speakers aren't stereo

So I've made a new build, yadda yadda :v: And normally I just plug the speakers in to the front panel jack, however now they only play in mono, which I've tested with left-right audio tests.. Same goes for my headphones if I plug those in there. It says it's stereo. What's going on? My motherboard is an MSI Z77A GD55, with onboard HD audio. My back panel appears to only be stuff for people who have surround sound. [editline]22nd August 2012[/editline] Also, listening to some music, only the loudest parts sound normal quality, then anything else sounds terrible. Whilst playing in mono. I'm downloading updated drivers for my sound now, however I've got a feeling this might not work - we'll see. [editline]22nd August 2012[/editline] The sound was fine on HDMI audio using my brother's cable earlier, however I can't use hdmi for now and I need sound to work with my headphones for friends [editline]22nd August 2012[/editline] Also, I was just playing TF2 - If I have my volume up, I can hear the minigun spin clearly, and I can very very faintly hear the heavy speak whenever I taunt. What do I do? :v:

Frequencies being dropped and terrible sound quality sounds like a bad jack. This might sound obvious, but make sure you push the speaker plug in all the way. If not, try looking for a stereo out on the back. I've never seen a computer (besides modern ones with only HDMI or S/PDIF everywhere) without a back stereo jack.
Well I had the plug in all the way and the headphones were doing the strange mono noise thing. My back panel is modern, and only has HDMI, S/PDIF and Surround support. [editline]22nd August 2012[/editline] My dad's speakers and my speakers also had the mono problem
Okay, well I tried replugging in JAUD1 and giving the cable a small, very light wiggle, now it doesn't even detect that there's anything plugged in to the jack. What the fuck am I going to do?
Does anybody know what's wrong with this? [editline]23rd August 2012[/editline] Okay so I had an idea: HDMI cable from computer in to TV Headphones/speakers plug in to TV That'd have me covered for sound, but what about my mic? That also doesn't work [editline]23rd August 2012[/editline] I'm a dumbass. Back panel works :V
You just screwed up the cabling for the front panel? Rewire it.
