Okay, my other PC had a dead power supply so I got a replacement from warranty. I put it in, but I get a weird beep noise, and the PC doesn't start. Can anyone help? Dual core 2.2 GHZ 2 GB RAM 200 GB HDD Nvidia 6800 GT Ultra Windows XP SP3
Help..?
Sounds like a POST beep code, the computer is trying to tell you what is wrong with it. What does it sound like? Is it continuous or is there long beeps followed by short beeps? Explain exactly how it sounds.
I had this problem when i assembled my secondary pc from scraps. Then i removed 2 out if 3 sticks of ram and it worked.
We need to know what the beeps sound like? How many long beeps (if any) and how many short beeps? Your computer is not successfully booting up and is trying to let you know what is wrong through a series of beep codes. Here's a list of all the beep codes and what they mean: http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm
Did you connect all Power plug's to your HDD and Video card?
It doesn't matter, it wouldn't make the beeping noise anyways.
It doesn't matter, it wouldn't make the beeping noise anyways.
Well you're half right, if the hard disks weren't plugged in the computer would just try to boot normally. However if the video card didn't have power it would usually start beeping like crazy, the computer would literally be screaming at you.

Sounds like the dead PSU spiked the motherboard, which is why you're getting a beep from POST. What's the number of beeps exactly? The number will help us to identify what the problem is.
If it sounds like BBBBBBBBB - RRRRRR -- BBBBBB its probably the GPU
^ If it sounds like BBBBBBBBBBBBB - RRRRR- BBBBBBBBB then It will be right back I had this for my old computer, really old, if I remember my RAM was loose and was interfering with something that I forget

In that case try removing the graphics card.
In that case try removing the graphics card.
I did on my first try.
It's likely your motherboard or a crucial component onboard the mobo is probably dead then.
I had this once, plagued me for 3 days... Then I removed my fucking keyboard and it was fine...
