Anyone ever heard of this company before?
From what I could find they're a German company (Cougar Germany)
that now sells here in the US so I think they are relatively
new (at least to me here in the states). Just popped
up on Newegg.com very recently as well.
I think they are
owned by HEC which I've had bad experiences with, but I don't
think "sins of the father" should always apply.
And they seem to be getting rave reviews all around.
Anyone own anything made by them? They look awesome
and are reasonably priced (slightly lower prices to Corsair), I just don't know much
about them or their build quality.
Here's a pic of one of their PSUs:

And here's a link to them on Newegg.com:

Thanks for any feedback!
Well, it LOOKS decent, that's for sure.
Never heard of them but they seem high quality and they all have 5 eggs on newegg. And if you want the inside of your system to look good, I would certainly consider one of these. Or if you have a red case.
I've seen a review from it, and it appeared to be quite decent, however i'd personally still go for an high end Corsair PSU.

Would depend on the budget.
I've got a cheap OCZ ModXStream in my case, and even if it's struggling from heat and constantly running at +70% usage it's still been doing a good 1 and a half years, for half the price of a similiar corsair PSU.
My BFG Tech is still running after 3 years. I wouldn't buy cougar though as looks, aren't everything.
if it's german built, it must be good
seriously, germans are good at this stuff
I've been wondering this too. Well it's called "Cougar" so it must be good because cougars are awesome.
These have been sold for at least a year here in Sweden, heard they're pretty good.

I have to agree that they look pretty damn sexy.
I think I may have to pick one of these up for my next
build then, I was afraid people were going to give a lot of negative
feedback, but sounds like most just haven't heard of them.
HEC is the OEM and here is a review of the S700 by JonnyGURU: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&file=print&reid=178
Ive been hearing alot about these (many reviews on them lately) but Overall from what I can tell they are overall decent power supplies
Pretty cables too
Linus has a video review on the cougars. Only thing I can recall is that their product has been around for a while and is somewhat respected...
I watched a review of them by Linus, they seem to be well made and all one of my friends that have one says that it's just as good as any other
They are OK power supplies but I'm not sure why you would choose one over any of the decent PSU's.

Because they are decent themselves.

Also, Linus doesn't do very in depth reviews so don't watch one and then think something is so great because he says so.

You are not going to notice a difference in using a computer with different power supplies. That's not what they're for.

I can't stand watching that Linus guy...
"Fen-um."
Just churns my stomach or something.

Wasn't directed at you.
They look fucking sexy, as long as it doesn't blow up in my face at 90% load I'm happy.

I bought an Apevia PSU after a friend requested it for his build (it was called the Java 650w)
because it only cost $15 after a MIR (now I understand why). I tried to convince him to
go with a $35 OCZ PSU I had also found on sale, but he's a cheap-ass.
Well as you probably suspected it didn't last long. It literally blew up ten minutes after plugging it
in. The explosion was pretty though, it made a loud *POP!* flashed blue, then
green, and then it sent smoke everywhere setting off my smoke detector.
Luckily I only had it plugged into the Mobo at the time and it didn't destroy it. I couldn't
even return the piece of crap because I had sent in the UPC for the mail in rebate. :downs:
The moral of the story: F*&k you Apevia! (and always go with a good PSU brand)

Stop adding line breaks for no reason.

I like it. Helps me sort the information.

That's exactly why I do it, the font is so small, helps break the stuff up.
