Okay so I only just recently got BF3 and I didn't expect my system would struggle with it at all. After seeing performances from similar systems, this leads to me thinking something must be going terribly wrong with mine.
Currently, I have two 6870's in Crossfire running the game at 1680x1050, all on low, no AF/AA. I'm getting roughly 20-30 fps. I have an eyefinity setup making my resolution 5040x1050. If I turn my graphics to ultra (no AA) I get the same framerate. I've already tested with all graphics levels on each card individually and I can't seem to get past 20-30 fps.
I've updated my drivers and I'm to the point where I'm going to restore Windows. I've ordered a 240gb SDD for this which will arrive in two days, but in case a Windows reinstall does nothing, is anyone having similar issues? Is there any way this can be resolved?
My specs:
Core i7 860 (OC @ 3.2GHz)
4Gb PC3-12800 memory (I've also ordered another 4Gb thinking it may have been a RAM issue)
8Tb total internal HDD space (doubt this matters)
2x XFX 6870 in CF
ASUS Xonar Essence (doubt this matters)
ASUS P7P55D PRO (doubt this matters)
1680x1050 OR 5040x1050
Windows 7 x86 (Will install x64 on the SSD)
Thanks in advance.
PS. All my temps are normal, I reset the clock speed on my CPU, and every other game works perfectly fine without any performance issues.
Perhaps you need the latest CAP's. Try making a thread on overclock.net I'd say.
Thanks, just noticed the latest CAP is October 31st (I updated two days before that). I'll post here whether or not that helps.
Can I just ask what a CAP is?
I have a 6970 and I am getting some shit FPS myself, wondering if we have similair issues.
Probably CAP 4 but that one seems to address Crossfire issues. I also have a 6870 Crossfire set up like the OP but my performance is fine so it might be that he doesn't have CAP 4.
CAP 4 helped a bit with stuttering and increased my FPS by about 10. Now, regardless of what resolution/graphics settings, I have approximately 30 fps. Gonna wait for my SSD for a Windows reinstall I guess.

ATI Catalystâ„¢ Application Profiles
Basically just drivers fixing compability issues and that stuff.
Wait, you're looking to game in eyefinity with 6870's? haha I hope you have the 2GB model.
As far as the low-fps-regardless-of-settings-issue. Run MSI Afterburner and check if you're using both GPU's should read between 95-99% for each one in game. Check the Vram usage too. And then I would run driver cleaner after an uninstall and clean it out for a new clean install with the CAP. if that doesn't work, i would reinstall windows like you mentioned.
Edit: Also, unrelated, but could you list your harddrive setup?
Just reinstalled Windows, haven't yet installed BF3 but I'm just posting as a response.
Eyefinity works with a single 6870 on all source games (Portal 2, TF2, etc.) with everything maxed. Yeah source is easy, but I personally don't play a whole lot else that's not on source so for me, two 6870's is already more than I need. I completely forgot about afterburner though, will download that.
Also, my HDD setup is: 3x2Tb, 2x1Tb, 1x150Gb Raptor (was my boot drive) and 1x240Gb SDD (now my boot drive). Little over 8Tb on paper but since drives aren't their specified capacity it's actually just under 8Tb usable.

BF3 runs perfect now. Thanks everyone.
