• Can Someone Explain this "Benghazi" Incident?
    12 replies, posted
I have heard this parroted around a lot as some big failure on Obama's part and somehow involving executive orders, but I have never seen the actual story. I am too afraid to Google it and have to sift through endless pages of bullshit conspiracy theories as well. Can someone give me an objective description of the incident in question?
Basically an US embassy in Benghazi, Libya was attacked by a terrorist force. They radioed for help, but apparently it couldn't make it in time despite a base not being too far from said embassy. The main ambassador was killed as well as his service members. Evidently they were either unarmed or had little in the way of protection. Politicians insisted the violence was sparked via an 'anti-Islam' video made by some schmucks on the internet, but now it seems it was just a spontaneous attack. At least this is what I understand happened. I could be wrong, but this is the gist; take it for what you will.
Know that it's been blown the fuck up by the Republicans as if it's some tremendous crime by President Obama.

Is it just grasping at straws or did he actually fuck up (because I have heard FPers before that have mentioned "Benghazi" as a fuck-up on Obama's behalf)?

Some odd double standards.

The goons got together to raise money for his family once they heard the news.

This thread is informative. I kept on wondering what all this Bengazi shit was all about. Doesn't sound like that big a deal.
This thread is informative. I kept on wondering what all this Bengazi shit was all about. Doesn't sound like that big a deal.
It was a pretty big deal, just not worth starting another war over it.

Usually they say he didn't give the whole story on it, or that he delayed rescuing the people at the embassy. Really republicans got mad because it's something the democrats did that they can claim was a "huge mistake" to attempt to rally people to their side, if mccain were president at the time and it happened democrats would probably use it to fling shit as well. Interestingly the thread about crazy political emails on SA was started by Vilerat. It's the only thread whose page limit is infinite and never gets rebooted: so that every time a crazy Benghazi conspiracy theory gets posted there, the goons are reminded that those mails are shitting all over Vilerat.
