Hello there! I have an incredibly ramshackle PC built from parts of my old computer and new parts (Im a horrible scavenger), here is a brief spec: (I use windows XP, but im upgrading to 7 soon enough) CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad MotherBoard: Intel DQ35J0 Ram: 2GB Graphics Card: Nvidia 8400 Case Nzxt SFF MATX Gaming Chassis Oh and a 150GB hard drive from 2004, Also I know very little about PC building, so don't be suprised if this seems stupid. Anyway I need a new graphics card as the old one is, simply shit. It struggles at 12fps on Arma II and thats on low. Any suggestions on a card? or anything else to make new games run smoothly?
The ATI 5750 is a really nice card
Yeah, it looks good and its not that expensive, Shipping it to Ireland is another matter my budget is 150 euro but im flexible to 200.
5750 is about the same performance as 4850. So, if you can find a deal on a 4850, and don't mind giving up Directx11 for now, that would be the way to go as it should cost less than a 5750.

5770 or 4850, that's what I would say...
5750 is bad at DX11 so it doesnt even matter
OP what's your PSU
It will cost less, However eventually directx11 will be a really nice thing to have which is why i went with the 5750 and not the 4850.
just one problem sir your 5750 will be far too slow to utilise it
If your motherboard is old, you may have trouble looking for cards seeing as it may be using AGP not PCI. So you might need to replace a few parts before upgrading.
To be fair, the first games of a new Directx version are usually very inefficient at using the new features. So it could that next winter's DX11 games, coming out later and with game developers having more experience using it, will run nicely on 5750s. Plus the 5750s use a lot less power and have better HDMI output. So I can see good reasons to go with one. It's just, for a 'mongrel' PC it's probably best to save the cash and grab a 4850 if you can find a deal on one. When you're ready to move up from the mongrel, THAT'S the time to invest in the best DX11 card available at that time.
OP what's your PSU
650wat good sir,
Don't get 5xxx they overheat and sound like a fucking jet
heh, my computer already sounds like a car accelerating when it starts up,theres a lot of fans on my case.
Get the 5770 if your computer is already sounding like a jet engine... But 4850 goes for what? 120$?
The 5750 comes in slightly better then the 4850 on The G3D mark http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html Also to get a 4850 with 1GB of memory. you only save $20 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131163&cm_re=ATI_4850-_-14-131-163-_-Product http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150448
