• Needing some sound to go with my new PC

So here is the deal; Got a decent rig that can tackle games and I got some Audio Technica's (ATH-A700 b/c you will ask me anyways; my dad is an audiophile ;) ) to go with it but I'm earning for some speakers and my headphones are constantly getting ripped off my head from angry parents (the irony). Like my father; Im an audiophile to be and so I've been pretty picky trying to get the right system. Here are my needs: - preferably 5.1 but could go with 2.1 and add on later? - need something that satisfies BF3/Games and my addiction to good music turned up (Tom Petty to Coldplay to Metallica) - Mountablitiy or could be mounted with some modification Restrictions: - Setup will be for about a year (possibility of moving at the end of the school year) - $100 budget so I can save up for SSD and a monitor (or two) to replace my crappy 19" LCD - Newegg if possible (USD) I know Logitech is widely available and Creative labs seems to be better, and currently everything seems to be crappy. I was also thinking of just getting a 2.1 system and then getting the others from a friend to add on for a 5.1 or even a 7.1. Just putting ideas on the board. So Facepunch, what suggestions do you have for me?
Okay common. Not even a little feedback or a single suggestion?
Get $50 more and get Klipsch Promedia 2.1.
Don't get 5.1 unless you are actually going to set the back speakers up behind you, otherwise the sound just gets mixed up. 2.1 sounds better than an incorrect 5.1 setup.

My room is tiny, so I bought the Edifier Aurora 2.1 setup. Small but meaty, booming subwoofer. Thank god it isn't pink.

I spend 800 on my 5.1 system, and that's conservative.

Speakers I was interested in: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Insignia%26%23153%3B+-+2.0+Stereo+Computer+Speaker+System+%282-Piece%29+-+Black/9402274.p?id=1218100581068&skuId=9402274 then the same speakers with the sub : http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Insignia%26%23153%3B+-+2.1+Computer+Speaker+System+%283-Piece%29/9402185.p?id=1218100580401&skuId=9402185 I tested these and they were pretty good; my friend has a pair without the sub and they sound fine to me. And the Klipsch was close to min when I plugged in my iPod. It was pretty loud. In the future I may just get my dad to help me build my own speakers; he built our house stereo system and plans to upgrade the rest of the house. And correction: Ill be moving out in a year, not the entire family. That's why I don't want to settle in on a pricey system; I have no idea what I'll be moving into yet and acoustics change with every room so... I think I've come to a decision unless someone has some good information on generally picking out speakers or even setup? Thanks for the advice and I'ill be back in the future when I build my 7.1 system....
