I've been having lots of computer problems lately. :frown:
I was sitting at my computer, enjoying the internet when I decided to pop open Steam and play some Call of Duty, so I went to the icon and double clicked it, opening a window that said Steam was updating:

^Steam doing its thing.
So I thought, cool. An update. Valve cares about Steam.
It gets up to here:

^Steam update at 27% still doing its thing.
But then...

:bang:
This happens every time I start up Steam, always stopping at 27%. Any help guys?

Oh, I forgot, on my other computer, Steam works fine. And this has been happening for a day.
Try computer restart?
Tends to fix steam issues for me.
Didn't work.
I also tried reinstalling and that didn't work either.
Delete ClientRegistry.blob then try it.
Still doing it.
Do you have a router? Maybe your firewall is blocking it.
What happens when you hit cancel?

I've been getting on Steam recently, just that yesterday it stopped working. I haven't changed anything in my router before it stopped working so that's not it.

It cancels.
It doesn't launch?
Thats akward, whenever I hit cancel on my steam, it opens it up without the update...
Also, the firewall I doubt would be doing this, contacting steam and downloading up to 27% and then stopping wouldn't be done by the firewall, the firewall would just stop it completely. I dunno...
Bump. It's been happening to me for years now, have never been able to fix it.
Has also been happening to me - the only way I can get it to work is some ritual by copying over a clientregistry.blob from a computer that has Steam working to the broken Steam's folder.
