Well you could easily buy any gear better than you could find through drops, so it did ruin the fun of finding loot.

Yes, how dare people have fun with your game for longer than the price of the game permitted it. They should pay per hour played!!!

I never used the auction house and I still got way less gameplay out of D3 than I got out of Diablo 2 or Titan Quest.

Bang on. Lots of the map areas weren't random, and those levels that weren't random just seemed to pick from 4 or 5 tiles and slapped them together a few times. The dungeons were tiny as well.
I remember first seeing Diablo 3, I thought you'd be able to traverse up and down the dungeon on the same level. You see loads of extra geometry around, but all you're allowed to do is walk along 1 corridor.
Destroyed replayability for me.
I thought the gold auction house wasn't a bad idea at first, but even that just turned into everyone talking about all the cool weapons they bought, and not found.

I don't give a shit, to be honest. I played Darkspore which had the same layout every time besides a few alternate routes, and it didn't affect replayability for me. The only difference between randomly generated maps and static ones to me is that one gets boring, and one is boring to begin with.
